Meet The Team

Volunteer
Jess byrd
I joined FFF when my oldest of four kids started kindergarten in the Milford School District. As a parent, I wanted to help ensure that every child sitting alongside mine in the classroom has access to food through community support and given the opportunity to thrive. Feeding hungry children is an incredibly important mission, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in supporting our local families.

Volunteers
mike and maryann beurket
We are long time residents of Milford and upon retirement began volunteering in the
area. We are on the board of Milford Miami Ministry, Maryann has tutored children from
the local elementaries and since our children attended Milford schools, we saw firsthand
the need for furnishing food to underprivileged children. Anne Kuhn is a dear friend of
ours and when she created Fuel For Flight, we joined right away. We are so honored to
be a part of this special group and pray that the community will make generous
donations so this worthy cause will continue.

With over a combined 60 years of teaching experience, we understand the importance of educating and molding young people into productive citizens. Fuel For Flight allows us to continue working with children to help them accomplish that goal.

Volunteers
ed and anne kuhn
We are both retired educators who have spent our lives investing in the success of young people. After decades in the classroom, we understand that students learn best when their basic needs are met. We know firsthand that hunger can stand in the way of concentration, confidence, and academic achievement.
Motivated by our faith and our passion for serving others, we founded Fuel For Flight with the support of Milford First United Methodist Church to continue the important work of providing weekend meals to students facing food insecurity in the Milford School District. Together with an incredible team of volunteers and community partners, we are dedicated to ensuring that children have the nourishment they need to return to school each Monday ready to learn.

We were happy to answer the call to volunteer with Anne when she started Fuel for Flight. It is such a worthwhile endeavor and not only do the schools kids benefit from the weekend food, but we get to work with fun and interesting church family members and get to know them better. We always leave feeling like we accomplished something and enjoyed the time together.
